Frequently Asked Questions
All of our 12 apartments have two bedrooms, both with ensuite, and are fully self contained.
Our apartments are in a three storey building without lifts, i.e. we do not have any apartments at ground level – stairs must be negotiated even for our lowest floor apartments (16 stairs to 1st floor). If you foresee an issue with climbing too many stairs for medical reasons, please contact us to see if we can facilitate a first floor apartment request.
Our guaranteed check-in time is 4pm but will allow earlier check-in if the unit is ready. Check-out time is 10am – Sorry our high occupancy means that we cannot offer a late check-out. If you are arriving out of our normal office hours (i.e. Monday to Saturday from between 9am and 5pm) you will need to contact us so that we can make prior arrangements with you for key collection.
Maximum occupancy is 6 irrespective of age (i.e. includes infants/children). Bedding configuration:
- Main bedroom has a King Bed
- 2nd bedroom has 2 Single beds (which can be converted to a King Bed by prior request)
If you require beds for a 5th or 6th person, we require advance notice.
Apartments are serviced weekly. We provide a complimentary initial supply of tea, coffee, sugar, detergents, paper towel and toilet tissue. Our conveniently located supermarket is open 7am-7pm daily if you require more during your stay. We do not supply body wash, shampoo and conditioner.
Kitchens are well equipped with a good size refrigerator, cook-top, microwave, dishwasher – but if you want a real holiday, there are many great restaurants on the island within walking distance or just a bus ride away – with a bus right at your doorstep.
All the apartments are fully air conditioned, and have a TV with DVD/CD player in the lounge area. Each apartments is equipped with a washing machine and clothes dryer.
To save space in your luggage we hire pool/beach towels for $5 each. Supplies are limited though so contact us prior to arrival to reserve yours.
We have a limited supply of cots and highchairs (free of charge), so please book in advance.
The resort has an attractive outdoor swimming pool (heated in the winter months), with an in-pool spa (i.e. not a separate spa) plus two BBQ areas, one half court tennis and table tennis. We also have a variety of kayaks, snorkelling masks and fins, and some fishing gear available for use (free of charge).
Free WiFi is available but sometimes our signal is a little unstable on the island. Access code is provided on check-in.
We have no control over this one – Telstra and Optus reception is good but Vodaphone has hardly any signal at all.
No smoking is allowed in the apartments, on apartment balconies or any common areas. We provide one outdoor designated smoking area.
No pets or animals are permitted (excludes animals within the meaning of the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 of the Commonwealth).
Marine stinger season (poisonous jelly-fish). “Is it safe to swim?” Townsville City Council tells us marine stinger season is November to May/June, and co-ordinate netted swimming enclosures at Picnic Bay and Horseshoe Bay during the season but still recommend wearing a full lycra or stinger suit within the netted area. All other months they say our waters are safe. Stinger suit hire and purchase is available from Nelly Bay shops. There are lots of things to see and do on the island including hiking, snorkelling, sailing, jet-ski-ing and other watersports. We provide a free booking service for island tours and activities and would be happy to guide you in the right direction to get the most out of your holiday experience.
